Hi! I was found last week and a nice lady took me into her house, and got me checked out. I was in pretty bad shape - covered in fleas, severely anemic, terribly underweight...no one had loved me for a long time, and the vet said she was surprised I was even walking, I was so sick. The nice lady thought I was an old cat, but it turns out Im only 3, so she decided to give me a chance, and took me back to her house. Ive been living in her bathroom for 10 days (much to the dismay of her other two cats & the dog!), and Ive been really good about taking all the medications the vet prescribed - and I love getting fed on a regular schedule! We went back to the vet today, and my blood count has doubled - woooo! Im on the mend, flea free, and generally feeling much better! The only sad news is that Im FIV+...chances of that were pretty high, for as long as I had been living outside...the good news is that, similar to humans with HIV, cats can live happy, otherwise healthy lives with FIV. The lady who took me in cant keep me, and shes going out of town soon, so I need a foster, or (maybe?!) a forever home by next Saturday, August 23rd. FIV cannot be passed to other cats by casual contact, but can be transmitted through a deep bite wound, so its best if I could go to a home with no other cats, or another FIV+ cat to reduce any risk of transmission. Im attaching a couple of pics - the first one is *not* flattering, but thats what I looked like when the nice lady found me. The last couple are action shots - Im so busy rubbing and purring, I cant hold still for pictures! Please share this status - Id really appreciate the help in finding a new home, temporary or permanent!!
