Hi. Im sure at least some of you can help me with some inspiration for this project that Ive procrastinated on. Essentially, Im in an IB School, and am currently in IB HL2 Math. For AP students, the rough equivalent is BC Calculus plus group theory and some cool shit with imaginary numbers. For every HL2 student, we have to do a Math Exploration. This is actually a lot cooler than it sounds: We pick a topic and we essentially write ~10 pages on the subject, exploring the math behind things, how it works, what we can prove about it, etc. Its really open ended, heres a couple of examples just so that you can sort of see what Im talking about: newmanboston.org/RelId/682825/ISvars/default/Past_IA_Examples.htm I started out the year with the general idea of cryptography being my topic, and I actually got like 8 pages done and if it was just some ordinary paper, Id totally get an A on it. But me and my math teacher went over it, and we both agreed it literally just read like a history paper on cryptograpy, and that I kind of needed to a) narrow my topic down b) include some more math and some original work rather than citing papers and explaining what they meant to digital cryptography. I dont really want to bend too far away from my original topic, as Ive already done a shit-ton of research and have a literal spreadsheet of links to a lot of significant math papers on elliptical curves and the discrete logarithm problem etc. Id really like to be able to do this right in the 8 days I have to complete this, so if you guys have any suggestions, particularly about narrowing down the topic or what I can focus on, that would be rad and help me out tremendously. Thanks!
