Hi Laurie Berkner Band! My name is April and my beautiful daughter is Alyssa. She is 7 years old, loves to sing and dance, is super smart, sweet, spunky and happens to have Autism. We adore and love her just the way she is! She has been a fan of yours since before she was even one yr old! We discovered Jacks Big Music Show and to this day it is still a staple in our house. My daughter is mostly non-verbal but you better believe she sings her heart out to the best of her ability. Your existence has been a constant in our life as we navigate through raising a special needs child. Your music has helped us to form a loving bond through singing, laughing, snuggling and dancing! A few weeks ago Alyssa was watching your music videos and I came in to sing with her. Her other mom Ashlie decided to video the two of us. (You can hear her trying to conceal her tears of overwhelming joy in the background) Well suddenly my non-verbal daughter starts singing loud and clear and I was amazed! She did such an outstanding job! I didnt sing with her until she looked at me and I know that means that I am supposed to be singing too! I was trying not to lose it and ruin her shining moment with a cracked and sobbing attempt. I am so proud of my baby girl! April is Autism Awareness Month and although it wasnt this stay at home moms most glamorous of moments, I couldnt keep this extraordinary moment to myself. There are still Doctors and Specialists out there who say Autistic kiddos cant form loving and meaningful relationships... Well here is your proof. I was just listening to your new album, wanting to learn a different song for bedtime. When I heard you and Lucy sing together it made my heart smile and tears well up. That is when I decided that I needed to thank you and show you what an amazing legacy you are leaving! THANK YOU SO MUCH! We live in OR so if you are ever going to do a concert on this side of the country we would love to be there! Please keep on rockin! ♡♥♡
