Hi Y’all, 22 days until pack up. We had a huge load of goodies arrive yesterday and all the pieces are coming together. We now have 1908 APOs/FPOs and more are coming in each day. Please don’t put off sending us the names of the guys and gals you know who are “over there” until the last moment. In an effort to confirm what we are putting in the boxes is still the right stuff we visited with our local Army recruiters this week. It was fun to hear them say how useful, needed and wanted all the items are and especially heartening to hear one combat veteran say “Heck, I’d go back to Afghanistan to get one of those boxes”. Clearly, these warriors appreciate all you are doing on their behalf and we have the “right stuff”. Our first warehouse work day was last Saturday and we enjoyed having a great group of young men and women come help us. It’s always good to see some of the teens who worked last year return to pitch in again. The students made quick work of sorting the inventory and promised to keep coming back to help out. Buckeye Mud and Rocky Ford Movers have volunteered to help us transfer the inventory from the warehouses and we are looking forward to the MHS football team helping move everything into the First Presbyterian Church of Midland on December 10th. The Odessa volunteers have a good work gang lined up to help them get First Presbyterian Church of Odessa set up and ready as well. Please join us at both churches on the 10th and help us with the massive job of getting the assembly lines all prepared. Don’t forget that Show of Support Hunt for Heroes will be welcoming their special guests to west Texas this week.
