Hi all, Gaynor had a letter she was in the redeployment pool today, but no-one had informed her she has lost her job!! It seems Gaynor has been made redundant. We have lost a valued ASD co-ordinator who is paid out the the Welsh Governments ASD infrastructure fund of £40,000. Merthyr can redirect this fund to front line ASD services and merge the co-ordinator role into another officers. If this is the case we need to know where the money is going and for what? Ive spoken to the Welsh Governments ASD implementation officer, she says we are the first to lose a dedicated ASD co-ordinator, no other Local Authority has done this. Gaynor is paid for 2.5 days a week as co-ordinator, Im sure its not going to be easy to merge this role into another officers duties. Every Local Authority has to have and ASD co-ordinating officer. I have also spoken with the NAS, they have offered advice and are going to support us in raising this issue at Welsh Government level.
