Hi, all. I found this document this morning in my Facebook feed and thought it was a wonderful idea. A genealogical will to be put with your regular will. I didnt scan the second page that has a place for the societies, libraries, etc to be listed, but that could be easily done. Lets face it, the death of a parent is an overwhelming event and by the time our kids get to our files and piles of genealogical info, they will be sick of looking at our stuff and will most likely toss it all out. Having something like this with your important documents will help them easily get your hard work to someone or someplace who/that will appreciate it. I have tons of info on several lines. My daughter doesnt have a clue who would be interested and that is not her fault. But I know who would want all of that info. Just as an FYI, Henderson County Genealogical will get my Corn files and binders. Also I have tons of reference books. NC Troops 1861-1865 A Roster, all volumes. Half of the ORs and lots of regional books. That will all go to the Grapevine Library Genealogical section to be sorted out by their most helpful genealogy librarian. The majority of my files are in file cabinets in the front attic of our house. I periodically print out the profile page for an individual from Ancestry as I work on them and also print out updated family group sheets from FTM and stick them in the files. I think what I will do is put colored stickers next to the names on this genea will and corresponding stickers on the file drawers so it will be super easy to match what goes to whom. Sorry this is kind of long, but thought this was a really good idea.
