Hi all, Well it’s hard to believe that we are nearly into - TopicsExpress

Hi all, Well it’s hard to believe that we are nearly into February already and the season is over halfway through!! That last few weeks have certainly been full on for Petone Rifle Clubs members what with the Southern Hawkesbay Champs and the Wellington Champs and of course the Masefield and Belt. We, as a club, have done ourselves proud with some great individual and team performances, this is testament to all the hard work you guys have been putting into your shooting of late. Keep it up and the results will keep improving!! The next couple of months are a very busy period for the Wellington clubs and also with a number of champs around the North Island. February kicks off with the Gisborne champs this weekend, and the 1st LTTS on this weekend this is being shot at 300 yards, Please make yourselves available to help out, Ross Mason is in charge and is expecting 8-9 newbies!!. A couple of our club members will be attending to sight rifles in. Club shooting is at 800 yards and the forecast is looking good so here’s hoping!!! This will be followed with a club BYO BBQ and committee meeting to follow, Anita will be sending an email out with details very soon, so please bring along something in the way of Salads, spuds, bread or what have you and something to throw on the BBQ if you don’t like venison!! Graces dad Michael gifted a rather hairy leg of Venison to the club recently and we are going to BBQ it …….mmmm….yummmmm, can’t wait!! Many thanks Michael and Grace for their generosity!!, Andre also has a few presentations to make to club members after recent champs so please stick around and socialize for while!! Also coming up next week is the Wairarapa Champs in Masterton on Thurs 6th Waitangi Day (details available on the NRA website) and then the Bert Dickson teams of 4 on Sat 8th, teams consist of 2A’s, 1B and 1C grader. 7 shots at 3,5 and 600 yards. Please let Jonno Barry and Anita know if you are available to shoot in teams…hopefully the other clubs will have teams to enter!!!. The 8th is also the second LTTS of this series and helpers will again be required……….Crikey the list goes on Petone Rifle club field day is on the Sunday 9th Feb. For those of you who don’t know this is our Club champs shoot!! 10 shots at 3, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 1000 yards! A big day of shooting and the first time we will attempt this on the new electronic targets. An awesome days shooting and all on for the young and not so young (hehe) No sooner has Feb disappeared than we strike March and the Kiwitea Champs at Cheltenham on the 1st –2nd and then the Taranaki champs which are being shot in Otorohanga this year on the 8th-9th, (note this differs from the pink WRA program!!) So as you can see it’s all go…….lots of shooting, cleaning and loading!! And of course lots of fun…Yippeee!!!!…. There’s plenty coming up that I haven’t covered so keep and eye on the program and if you’re not sure about something just ask and someone will be able to help. Another couple of shoots to note on your calendar are the Palma Camp in March and the Marlborough Autumn shoot / Quadrangular teams match in April, Petone usually makes this a club jaunt so start thinking about filling up some vehicles and booking the boat if your keen!! On a lighter note Steve L is bringing his new Missus along this weekend after “running her in” tomorrow, he’s looking forward to everyone meeting her and hopes she behaves herself!! Steve was struggling to contain his excitement when I spoke to him earlier ;). Well that’s my lot; look forward to seeing you all on Saturday for another great day on the range and hope you can all stay for the BBQ afterwards, Cheers Me
