Hi everyone, I would like to call for the support of the foreigner community in Cambodia. In 2012, the social business Phare, The Cambodian Circus was created to employ young artists trained by the mother NGO Phare Ponleu Selpak. In Siem Reap, Phare proposes a daily performance for tourists, expats and locals. Every night, a group of artists perform a breathtaking show, making a living from their artistic training. Phare gives them the opportunity to support their families and build their own. Coming from very underprivileged background, the vocational training they get at Phare gives them the chance to become talented artists who are proud of who they are. Their gainful employment in Siem Reap allows them to be confident in their future. However, the future of Phare is at risk! The land where the big top is built is actually rented and they cannot stay. Their only sustainable solution is to look for a land to buy. Unfortunately, the competition with big hotel construction projects is so that the prices are extremely high. A social business like Phare can simply not put as much cash on the table as such hotels and the prices continue to increase every day. Phare has decided to lunch a fundraising campaign in order to avoid an enormous bank loan so that the money from the show can continue to be given to the artists and their families instead of being used to reimburse a loan. If you wish to bring a direct and positive impact on the lives of the artists, you can donate and participate in the sustainability of the Phare project.
