Hi everyone! Im running to be your Year 3 Single Honours English course representative. As your Year 2 rep, I tried to convey our views to the department and challenge them on issues. I got a variety of important proposals sent for the departments curriculum review, such as changing assessment methods, teaching methods, and feedback practices, including issues that had been stone-walled in previous years. As the English Studies rep on the DSUs Academic Affairs Committee last year, I helped design union policy on academic support, assessment, feedback, representation systems within departments and other policies, which are then recommended to the departments in talks to continually remind the department to focus on the paying student and the needs of the English students in particular. Similarly, I became President of the English Society because I want to keep working to help the literary scene flourish – do more for English students and everyone whos into literature. I and the rest of the team have been working hard to make sure theres a full line-up of events this term to interest everyone. I want to do whatever I can to serve the interests of our English lives at Durham. Please vote on durhamsu/evoting_election_votings for me to continue as your Course Rep. Thank you!
