Hi everyone its Travis. Were talking about these DC/NYC/Boston/Philly shows and Change reissue too much. Time for a damn playlist. Been too long. Today: Nick Cave. A while ago I saw Cave in NYC and was blown away. I never had much feeling for him. Crazy when you consider that I was in college in the Let Love In era. But the show was mesmerizing. So of course, I listened to everything he ever did and made a playlist. One of the things I found interesting when I listen to the playlist, and I hope Im not starting a food fight here but what the hell, is that we live in times where art is really scrutinized for misogyny. Its 99% very positive I think. Nick Cave, who gets pretty dirtball, has thus far escaped real challenge. I was casting about for theories as to why that is. Maybe its just because hes old and irrelevant AHEM (certainly not pop) but listening to his music it occurred to me that he has a gift for being aggressive/dark without sounding coercive/entitled. Or maybe a lot of women DO find him nasty and Im not familiar with the critique? Dunno, its interesting to consider. The man sure does go there. Anyways, hope you enjoy. open.spotify/user/127039663/playlist/0FkfiwJswjxZgzsPVADzlR
