Hi everyone, just wanted to update you on the status of the Red Mtn hike in the Scapegoat this Saturday. Ive been going over the beta and its pretty straightforward, moderate cross-country hiking with maybe easy scrambling on a slope at worst (in other words, you need to be comfortable with doing off-trail travel). The hike is flexible in regards to exact route - Ive been eyeing a loop route that will maximize explorative enjoyment while keeping the distance and climbing gain adequate (approx. 8-9 miles, 3,500 feet of elev. gain). Forecast looks decent - a bit cool but no widespread chance of rain, hopefully. Snowfields should not be extensive along the route either, so I do not anticipate special gear being needed. So far a few people have already expressed interest - enough people to fill up one vehicle, most likely. Anyone else who wants to join in, a second vehicle may be needed. Email me at apologist497@yahoo to express interest. By the way, feel free to propose trips for this summer! I am not aware of anyone doing that, now would be a good time to do so, so people can plan ahead. I will be proposing some of my own trips in the upcoming newsletter next week.
