Hi fellow humanities undergrads, just a reminder about #Voting :-) You can vote online or on paper on any of the voting stations on campus till Wednesday. For a student council that does not only prioritize the fight against academic exclusion but also academic excellence, #Vote #candidate9 on your ballots. - Theres a huge gap between those who do well academically and those who dont, and the sad reality is that the latter happen to be mostly students whose mother tongue is not English. In response to this challenge I propose a Deans mentorship program where students who are excelling academically can volunteer to assist first years with Essay writing...of cause, this is still just a vision, but YOU guys have the power to decide if The Deans Merit list/ or class medals should remain dominated by those with a language advance over others. >My mission is to ensure that the disadvantaged student is not confined to 50% pass. > currently, class reps only get training post their election, and I propose pre-election training organized by the HSC for nominees. I have seen students being unjustly dismissed by lectures; and very few feel the need to communicate with their class reps about such issues for various reasons. But it became apparent to me that class reps are important, and that something needs to be done to make them realize and fulfil their role; and for them to be accessible to students. > I shy away from speaking ambiguously about transparency, efficiency and accountability: I want an HSC VULA tab that actually has documents that YOU can look at (I.e. Reports, an Annual calendar, and other proceedings of the council); I want HSC bylaws that promote accountability within the council. > I envision a Faculty Council that is not afraid to challenge authorities as a means to optimize students academic and social experiences in the faculty. I can only post so much on Facebook; if interested in my idea(s) and would like to have a discussion with me before casting your vote, youre more than welcomed to comment or contact me. Make the right choice #Vote #Candidate9 #ZolaniMetu
