Hi folks, Bob again. Anybody remember that best selling book “The Shack”? Well, its being made into a movie. Christian Post reports Academy Award winner Forrest Whitaker is in talks to direct the film that is reported to be starring Oprah Winfrey. I know “The Shack” has been a very popular book with a lot of Christians, but I have to tell you, Ive never been a fan of this book. My problem has always been that it weaves some heretical doctrines and theologies in with a very compelling story about a God the father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. I am just concerned with the subtle way it sneaks in dangerous false teachings and counterfeit Christianity like implying there is no Hell, a message of pluralism, God the Father as a woman called Papa (many Pagan and Wiccan religions teach a feminine “goddess” worship) as well as a female Holy Spirit, denying the existence of good and evil, saying they “do not have any actual existence”, etc. I guess it shouldnt surprise me that they are considering Oprah for this movie. Look, I know many Christians have embraced “The Shack”, but I would respectfully encourage you NOT to embrace this book (or movie). Its a beautiful story with much truth, but it also adds little poison pellets of false doctrine about huge issues, like the nature of God, the authority of Scripture, pluralism, Hell, and salvation through Jesus Christ alone. These are big doctrinal issues to get wrong and the Shack gets them wrong. Im curious what you all think (and thought) of The Shack. Did you like the book?
