Hi folks, Bob again. Well, I went to see Moms Night Out over the weekend. I thought it was a good movie. Not great, not hilarious, but a good, clean, somewhat funny movie that presented regular normal characters, living life, having fun, being funny......and being Christian. (Patricia Heaton plays a pastors wife). I liked this, so I give the movie a positive review. But I have to admit, It wasnt riproarlingly hilarious like other comedies I have seen. Actually, if I think about every faith friendly movie I have ever seen, I cant think of a single comedy. Theyre all serious dramas. Why is this? Is it because Christians just cant make us laugh as well as non-Christians can? I know this is a stereotype, but is it a TRUE stereotype? Look, Im open to the possibility it may be true and if it is, so be it. Id rather laugh less hard at a clean joke than laugh harder at a dirty joke. But is it true? Can Christian humor be just as funny in movies or in stand up comedy as non-Christians. Do we have to admit that Christians just arent as funny? What do you all think? Heres a link from a CNN op-ed on this question. religion.blogs.cnn/2014/05/10/can-christians-make-funny-movies/
