Hi, folks, Here is some general information about the Williamson Disc Dog Event next weekend. We will be going to Barnstormers (a cool restaurant) after the event Saturday. Please let Stacey know before noon if you are going. No dogs. Pay your own way. General Info: 1. The Muir’s place is on West Road in Williamson, about a mile down the road (regardless of which end you start.) The place is clearly marked with border collie stuff. Pull into the iron gate on the right-hand side of the house, go behind the out-building (barn) for parking. Phone reception is bad, GPS is iffy, so map out the route before you get started; there won’t be much help once you get to Williamson! 2. Come early to set up and check in. There will be a LOT of teams. Checkin starts at 0730 and start playing as soon as we can after that. It will be cold, dress appropriately. 3. The field will be damp in the morning – bring waterproofed shoes/boots or an extra pair of shoes. 4. There will be no food vendors, so come prepared. (Roadkill is plentiful, though. Help yourselves…) 5. Parking may be tight, but we’ve done it before. Make good use of space so others can fit. Pull behind the barn and pass through the lower gate to the right of the field (near the portapotty). You can park right near the fence there. There are good gates to walk through and you’ll be right near good tenting areas. 6. Tent up close to the fence for those on the far side of the pavilion. 7. Use the portapotty, not the facilities in the barn. The barn is being used as a bedroom. 8. We will have some first-timers competing – make them feel welcome and help them understand the rules. General Competition Notes: 1. There are many teams, so we MUST be efficient or dark will overtake us. Know where you are in the order, have your dog pottied and ready, and be ready to go as soon as the team in front of you is done (dog leashed.) Don’t make us wait on you! 2. Keep your dog leashed when its out of the crate and not competing. (Your dog may be well-behaved, but some dogs on leashes feel threatened/trapped by dogs off leash.) 3. Players meeting at 8:45 sharp. Don’t wander up to it – be ready! 4. As soon as an event is announced as being over, you may warm up on the field for the next event. Five minutes only. 5. Freestylers, give your music to the person running sound right before your turn. Best time to do so is as soon as the team before you is finished with their routine. Pick up your music after your routine. You may use CD, mp3 or audio, thumb drive, phone or iPod/iPad for music media. 6. Freestyle max time is 90 seconds maximum, 60 seconds minimum. This is a new rule. 7. No mean people will be allowed. Be polite to each other and dogs, watch the salty language, and look for ways to help out (don’t assume everything is covered!) News: We have a great thing started with SEDD. It is a purely a non-profit club, simply organized, with no cash or equipment assets, and few rules. Anyone can affiliate simply by saying they want to and participating in events, being good sports, and having fun with their dogs. Any sincere input is appreciated and considered. Stress and Mean people not allowed. We want to hold the best events – not just Skyhoundz, support members with opportunities to learn and compete at high levels, and support dog charities that are important to all. We have some incredible events to soon release information in the future.
