Hi guys I hope this explanation on stamper comparisons is helpful to you. My friend Karolyn Topham Pereira helped create a document for me, corrected my grammer, and added the YouTube links (shes so tech savvy :-) ) Stamper Type Comparison From an AiS post by Priscilla Contreras Konad pink, double ended, and fancy stampers are all made of firm rubber you can use acetone, tape, and non-acetone to clean them. They are not flexible and have really no give to them. They do a fabulous job in picking up images. Theyre pretty awesome for creating decals and the heads do not require maintenance such as priming. Squishy Firm: Made of silicone. Many manufacturers claim they use high grade silicone but I recommend that you only buy from reliable high rated sellers as some use a mix of silicone and some cheap chalking materials. You will know theyre not high grade by examining the stamper. It will have many air bubbles and if you run a file or your nail on the surface it will crumble. Squishy firm is excellent for gals such as me with the following qualities: little patience with rolling using Konad, wide nails, and curved nails. Squishy firm comes in short regular size, XL size, and rectangular size. Don’t confuse the red and light green rectangular stampers those are firm rubber same as Konad. Squishy firm requires some maintenance such as priming the stamper. Essentially what that is, is buffing the surface to remove any shine and stickiness. If you need instructions I have 2 YOUTUBE videos on this, links are included below. Be very careful when priming. If you prime too hard or rough the head becomes leathery rendering the stamper useless/dead. You CANNOT use pure acetone to clean as in time it will crumble the head. You can use non-acetone, tape, lint roller to clean. You can use this for shrinking and stretching images but you will have some difficulty since its not as flexible as marshmallow. Priming a Nail Stamper https://youtube/watch?v=RA1BFK8lp7s Priming a Nail Stamper - LIGHT PRIME https://youtube/watch?v=LRWkjVr9ZRY Marshmallow: A somewhat cousin of squishy firm shares many of the same attributes except it is made from a different type of silicone it literally expands with the press of a finger. This is very flexible and excellent for stretching and shrinking images. Overall: Stick with firm rubber if you are making decals on the stamper since you are rubbing a semi hard/sharp object to remove the decal and if you’re not careful you can tear squishy firm if you rub too hard. Also, try the firm stamper when your squishy firm won’t pick up a particular image. Squishy firm: Excellent for stamping Marshmallow: Amazing for shrinking and expanding images.
