Hi guys. Obviously you know the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo is going to pass over Scotland tonight. This will bring windy and wet conditions to the SE. If you have a trampoline or something that can catch the wind i would pack it up or weight it down. I wouldnt expect the gusts to get above 45mph. This is windy but nothing brutal. Tomorrow morning around 6 am is when I expect the worst of the winds to hit and these will carry on until around the school run time. If you are travelling be aware that there is going to be a lot of standing water on the roads and as this is the first real windy weather system of the year we could see some falling deadwood from trees. I will keep you updated as we go but I think the papers and the TV are trying to cover all angles and dont want to be accused of not warning anyone of the impending system. Just to give you an example. The st Judes day storm last year had wind speeds in excess of 60mph and this wasnt that bad in the Chilterns. Dont panic but be aware. I have attached the storm data for last years st judes storm for your comparison with the darker red denoting the higher windspeeds. Cheers AJ
