Hi guys so this man contacted us to see if we wanted to help at a garden tour in Greytown in return for a behind the scenes tour of Pukaha Mt Bruce. Ive been In touch with him and hes looking for 6 youth to do the day, Ill organise shifts so you only have to do half a day. Its in Greytown and is on the Saturday 8th (so this weekend coming up) from 9:30-1:00 and 1:00 - 4:30. This is not hard its only 3.5 hour shifts and is a great way to get out in the community, we will be doing a mixture of parking, security and just a presence. Get back to me ASAP. On FB or 02102836371 Cheers Cody Info below ................................................................................... Each year the Pukaha Mount Bruce Board needs to raise about $150,000 to undertake our forest restoration and predator control programme to keep the endangered species safe in our forest. We undertake this fund raising by a wide range of activities and events. The Wairarapa Garden Tour has become one of our major events. This year 18 generous property owners in the South Wairarapa have made their gardens available for members of the public (who pre-purchase a ticket) to visit. The event takes place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th November. The gardens are open from 9.30am to 4.30pm each day. Over the two days up to 1,000 people could visit a garden. At each garden we provide at least 2 volunteers to check tickets, provide some general security and at some gardens assistance with parking if it is off road. The volunteers work in the morning from 9.30am to 1pm or afternoon from 1pm to 4.30pm. We have a great range of volunteers helping. Also some business houses adopt a garden for a day or the weekend and arrange the volunteers to cover all the slots. To cover all of our gardens we need 140 plus volunteers over the weekend. Each volunteer gets a complementary ticket that can be used for the rest of the weekend by them or family or a friend. We are still in need of volunteers and I wonder if your Venturer Group might be interested in assisting. We have a garden in Greytown (needs probably three people on it at a time as parking needs managing) that the group might consider assisting with . Normally we’d offer a complimentary ticket but that may not be of interest. However I’d be very happy to offer a modest donation to the group plus develop an opportunity for a special visit to Pukaha Mount Bruce – behind the scenes and that kind of thing. Depending on what birds are around we might be able to offer a “close encounter” of some kind. We’d put something together that was much more than the visitor might normally see. I’d be very happy to discuss option and if you wanted me to come and talk to the group I’d be happy to do so. I live in Greytown so it’s no problem. The Garden Tour website is wairarapagardentour.co.nz and the Pukaha website is pukaha.org.nz and more information available.
