Hi guys, thought I would pop up pictures of my latest etching work. James Wilson asked me to etch his shotguns, which being honest was an honour as I know how much he loves them and how much they are worth. Sorry the photos are not great they were taken on my iPhone. We etched the Synthetic Stock first, this was a major challenge as it was really thin and curved, etching plastics is a little more difficult especially thin plastic. The initial challenge was fitting the gun into the machine, this was due to the fact the cartridge tube could not be unscrewed. So what did we do? Took half of my machine apart... lol We managed to then fit it in and get started. We also managed (with a little ingenuity) to etch the curves, this was carried out by manually adjusting the laser intensity. The second shotgun was etched with a deep engrave, this opened up the wood and allowed us to rub a water based ink into the marking. This took the colour down and brought out the grain a bit. We popped his initials on the fore stock and James supplied me with a shooting scene which he wanted on the stock. Hope you guys like the work.
