Hi, many of you know me as a long distance runner, a fitness - TopicsExpress

Hi, many of you know me as a long distance runner, a fitness trainer (personal & group) and a coach for one of Reebok Running Squads. Many of my trainees and runner friends have approached me with their running injuries asking how it has occurred and what they should do to treat it. Since I am not a medical doctor or a physiotherapist I cannot and (and am NOT supposed) to diagnose their injuries but only refer them to a sports specialist. However, once I learn the nature of their injury I can develop a specific rehab routine for them involving strengthening (and stretching of) affected muscles and joints for them RECOVER. I could also develop a strengthening programme to PREVENT the onset of any injury once I know their susceptibility to an injury due to biomechanical factors specific to them: their postural alignment while running, alignment of their bones, shape and tightness/looseness of particular muscles and joints, muscular imbalances, their gait, coupled with the nature of their training. In this regard I am contemplating teaming up with a sports performance specialist who does such assessments routinely. He also conducts runner’s clinics and workshops in various cities on a regular basis. Now my question to runners in this forum is that will they be open to such a service: A service that helps them analyze their body in relation to running and gives them a heads up on what their weak spots are that when ignored can cause them injuries? What rehab they need to follow if they are afflicted with a running injury. What specific changes they need to bring in their bodies that will correct their running form and improve their performance to give them an edge over others. If they are open to such a service what would they prefer – one to one individualized coaching or in a small group of people at a common place (Assessment will of course be individualized)? What fee would they be willing to pay? And do they think many runners will avail this service? All inputs will be appreciated so please feel free to give them. Thank you in advance. :-)
