Hi, my name is Kim, and apparently Im a sluggard. I just did my proverbs reading for the day, and God led me to investigate this particular verse. Hes a funny guy! Proverbs 10:26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so are sluggards to those who send them. Symbolism: Vinegar decalcifies teeth and makes them lose their strength; they eventually lose their integrity and corrode. Smoke clouds the eye lens and causes them to develop cataracts or to become blind. Characteristics of a Sluggard 1. THE SLUGGARD IS A PROCRASTINATOR. 2. THE SLUGGARD IS A RATIONALIZER. 3. THE SLUGGARD TAKES THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE. 4. THE SLUGGARD IS FOOLISH. 5. THE SLUGGARD REQUIRES CONSTANT SUPERVISION AND PRODDING. The Source of the Sluggards Problem: 1. THE SLUGGARD IS SELF-SEEKING 2. THE SLUGGARD IS PLEASURE-SEEKING 3. THE SLUGGARD IS SHORT-SIGHTED (Only thinks of the present) 4. THE SLUGGARD LACKS SELF-DISCIPLINE Solutions to the Sluggards Problem: 1. THE SLUGGARD’S ATTENTION CAN BE GAINED BY PAIN, PRESSURE, AND PROBLEMS (because being uncomfortable will prompt them to action) 2. THE SLUGGARD MUST CHANGE HIS PERSPECTIVE AND HIS PRIORITIES. 3. THE SLUGGARD MUST GO TO WORK.
