Hi there! Thanks for your interest in Fighter Diet. Where do you build and chisel your physique? In the gym? In the kitchen? Both are wrong. The big muscle responsible for the gym training and the dieting is your mind. Without it you’re nothing. Your mind is not only your biggest asset, it’s often the ‘enemy within’. I don’t know why we are programmed to constantly doubt our capabilities, doesn’t seem to go hand in hand with having a hard childhood or having the right champion genes. And for that record, most of us go through hardship in our youth. Absent parents, no parents, bullying in school, sickness and handicaps, being teased for your looks, not the smartest at chemistry or PE. If you were born in a perfect environment, you’d still question yourself sooner or later. Think about the typical rich man’s dilemma: you’re so used to getting everything you want you either stop appreciating it or your drive to excel at anything important in life ceases. Why bother when you don’t need to work to survive? No matter what background you come from, to be successful you must accept your starting point, set goals and execute without using any excuses. Your having issues with your family, shortage of money, cannot afford school etc might be real factors but you can not allow them to be the reasons for your lack of trying to go for it. The three big enemy entities: Fear You’re scared to death of losing. It’s like you pace yourself in case it won’t work out. When you pace yourself in your life in general it leads to the same stagnation as it does in the gym. Hold back and you won’t gain more muscle. Hold back trying to accomplish your goals and you gain no success. You You are the one who allows yourself to doubt your excellence and how its invaluable value. You are the one who says ‘why me?’ when it should be ‘why not you!’. Someone must be the champion. It can just as well be you as anyone else. Your task is to completely demolish your enemy within. You must refuse to listen to the voice that whispers in your ears that you’re not good enough. Who are you to say you’re not good enough? I agree, you’re not good enough. You’re great! Huge difference. Others It’s funny. People around you, the closer they are to you, the more they feel the need to tell you exactly how much you can accomplish. They might claim they’re only trying to help, that they want to you be content and not get upset. Content is a curse word. Content means settling. As in ‘oh I wanted this but didn’t think I could so I went for an inferior satisfaction’. Being content is the least you should desire to become. The Long Journey We all start from scratch. In fitness all of us are born with the same advantages. Some build muscle with ease, others don’t. Some burn fat easily, others seem resistant to burn any fat at all. You might be starting your fitness journey now, weighing 200 lbs too many or you might be very thin and weak. Keep in mind that we all go through a long journey. The models you see in the magazines were not born the way they look now. Look in their resume and they have spent years of perfecting their physiques. Everyone with a stellar physique who maintains it have mastered their mind. All exceptional physiques always start in the mind. And that’s why I’m writing this for you. Positivity Your first rule is to become a professional at staying positive. Motivation from looking horrible in the mirror can be a starting point for change, but it’s still using a negative habit of bashing yourself and your innocent body. Remember your body didn’t get out of shape on its own. You let it. Do you have so many pounds to lose you stopped weighing yourself years ago? You can do it. When you commit to the desire of seeing progress you become a success. Did you miss a workout this week? Shit happens. It doesn’t mean you can just as well stop working out and resume come monday. Instead of saying ‘I am so fat’, say ‘I weigh a lot so I can lift a lot’. Instead of saying ‘I look like a skeleton’, say ‘Soon I’ll be a fit body’. Encourage your flow of continuous great habits by embracing the small, but nevertheless important positive signs you’re doing good: you’re gaining strength. Your clothes fit better. You feel more energetic. You feel proud of sticking to the program. At times when your enemy within questions if it’s all worth it, ask yourself what’s the alternative? To feel miserable for the rest of your life? How would you justify it? That you didn’t do anything to change your life? Nobody can change your life except for you. You just have to allow yourself to do it. Self-Sabotage Have you ever felt you would become all that you want if you just didn’t have a lousy job, a bad marriage, worn out knees, a weak hip, a better tv, a fancier gym membership? Instead of working on solving the root issues, for instance, staying in a destructive relationship due to obligations put on you by others, you accept that you just cannot do it. You can do it. You can change the game. It takes effort, it takes fighting spirit and it takes determination. Be aware of the scary truth here: if you fail to take charge of your life you will be in the same unpleasant situation until you die. Every day you stay in misery you’re one day further away from where you want to be. Let’s say you want to lose weight and right this moment you want to eat a candy bar you know will ruin your momentum. How much is it worth to you? You’ll enjoy it for a few minutes, then no more. It has consequences. No, you won’t gain all pounds back from a snickers or a donut, but allowing yourself to choose a destructive choice and letting yourself down leads to self doubt. You see, your enemy within will tell you ‘well, you didn’t manage to stay away last time, and that means you won’t next time around either!’. The more slips you allow, and trust me, nobody is born with a super human brain which doesn’t feel tempted at times, the more it becomes a habit. You’ll become the failure. Creating positive momentum is essential. The more you practice staying committed the better you become at it. Saying no to a cookie day 1 on your fitness journey is as challenging as trying to win Roulette, but turning down the cookie day 42 is much easier. You just need to get on the roll! How do you get on the roll? By working every day with the knowledge that each day, each day, is as important as the goal itself. The Mind Muscle Muscles in the gym are created in the mind. You need to have belief in your capacity to build strength. You must have faith that weight training is progressive. Struggling today with an exercise or a certain load will no longer be a challenge down the road. each workout builds your tolerance to exercise, you become stronger. It’s a known fact. Structured, progressive, regular training builds muscle. It’s not like you’re trying to live on the planet March and nobody has done it before you. Millions of people before you have dieted down hundreds of pounds. You can do it just as well as anyone else. Your Desire Success comes from having a relentless desire. ‘I’d like to’ is not strong enough. ‘I’d want to’ isn’t either. Your desire to achieve your goals must be your biggest passion, your obsession, the very thing you dream, think and fantasize about. Your desire must be so powerful you see no other options than to do everything you possibly can to reach your goal. You can not allow a plan B. You know what plan B leads to? You’ll opt out and go for plan B. I mean, it’s unavoidable! You allow yourself an option and suddenly a door opens up to settling for something you didn’t really want in the first place. Go to the bank and they talk about setting up savings account and getting interest on your money. They’re talking about this to help you secure your future. They want to plant your dollars in many buckets so if the shit hits the fan you’ll not get pulled down. This is great.. But it’s horrible thinking when you want to be a winner as in living your dream, doing what you want, becoming who you want to become. I know it’s scary, very scary to go for your dreams. You have no insurance it will work. When you think of insurance and guarantees though, what really do we have guarantee for? Not life, that’s for sure. I’m challenging you to dare to live like a daredevil. You must find excitement in swimming upstreams and not letting it tire you or to go with the others who are floating along in the opposite direction. Remember, it’s ‘why not you’ and not ‘why you’. I’m sure you’ve read about those amazing people who seem to overcome every obstacle and keep on triumphing. Don’t you want to be one of them? You can! You just need to have the desire to become one. Self programming Every day is an opportunity to get stronger. I want you to program yourself into the tough, badass winner you can be and most likely are deep inside. When you wake up, repeat for yourself “today is the day I’m achieving all I want. Every choice I make takes me closer to my goal”. Say it ten times. Out loud. Then, as you go to the mirror to brush your teeth say “Damn, I’m fantastic. I’m smart, I’m tough, I’m powerful, I’m on my way to be all I can be and then some”. Repeat ten times. It doesn’t matter you don’t believe in the magic of it yet, it doesn’t matter you feel embarrassed and funny. Just do it. Don’t think. Before your meals which you most likely find boring and bland occasionally, tell yourself “this meal is the key to my health. I choose to eat nutritious food because I become the healthy person I want to portray to others”. At the gym, between sets, repeatedly think “I am strong, I’m powerful” during and between all sets. During tedious cardio, say “I love feeling my heart and lungs work, I love doing cardio, it sets me free”. Keep on spitting out all these statements and self empowerment sentences until you do it automatically. Before bed, write down the following in a regular notebook (I believe in the power of the pen, and in writing by hand): “ I can do all I want if I do my best”. Write this twenty one times every night. Just do it. After a few days you won’t even have to think about what you’re writing. Your hand will write it for you and your mind can drift away thinking about groceries but what comes out on paper will be the “I can do all I want if I do my best”. Now, here you have an amazing subconscious strength developing! Feed it daily. Keep on writing. Do it every day for several weeks before you evaluate if you’re proficient at it and can let it go for a bit. Faith Faith is believing in something without knowing if it’s true or not. It’s being loyal to your beliefs no matter what you go through. You must establish and hold on to faith in yourself and your capacity of achieving your goals. You must void your mind from ‘what if I cannot do it? What if I fail? What if it’s for no use? What if I waste my time?’. Every time these doubts pollute your soul, cut them off. Do not venture into those deep philosophical questions. Be a machine. Do not listen to your emotions. Do not listen to your enemy within. Block them out. Replace them with ‘What happens if I do it?’ You will see an inner film of all the good that will come from achieving your goals. You’ll see how you’re prospering and dwelling in feeling of fulfillment. “What if it’s for no use” will change to ‘What will I get sticking to all I believe in?” You’ll see your fit, strong you flying through life like there’s no problems at all in the world. “What if I fail?” turns into “What when I succeed?” You’ll see how wonderful you’ll feel when you can pat yourself on the back saying ‘well done!’. And “what if it’s a waste of time?’ will become ‘What a waste of time my life would be if I didn’t go for what I want and worked so hard to get there!’. Do you see a pattern? You change destructive, self-criticizing doubts to self-encouraging, positive butterfly in the belly hypothetical questions which will down the road turn into reality. If you allow dreams and goals to become it. Determination It’s easy to be determined for a day or two, but staying determined for the long run takes a lot of work. You cannot buy determination on a can and sprinkle it on you as you wish. To be determined means you stick to executing your good habits even when all odds are against you. Determination means you refuse to take ‘cannot do’ as an answer. Determination is what separates a win from a failure. You must actively exercise this skill by doing all in your power to be a determined person. Don’t allow others to call you a flake and don’t dare define yourself as someone who doesn’t perseveres and succeeds. Determination is the ingredients that changes you from a ‘maybe’ to a ‘definitely’. It’s like cooking a meal. You won’t get a great dish if you just do the preparation but forget to finish it with the right cooking. To enjoy the meal you need to buy the ingredients, prepare them and cook them. Mantras I already touched the subject and showed you how to write and talk yourself into what an amazing person you are. They are known as mantras. Mantras are very powerful. When you put them to use you’ll become what you say. You just won’t be able to not believe in it after regular practice. Mantras become like self propaganda. You repeat and repeat and repeat until it is you. Your brain and your mind don’t know the difference between what you’re really are and what you can be. Think about all you want to be and make them your mantras. I personally used “I want to live in America” and ‘I have a green card” as well as my regular “I am strong”. Note that I did not live in America and did not have a green card when I used these mantras. What happened? Well, I’m in America and I have a Green Card. All my accomplishments to day I have seen in my mind and saw in my mind long time before they turned real. I get goosebumps when I think about it. The power of the mind. In the fitness industry we’re so focused on our surface and how to get that perfect body we forget what’s important on the journey. The power of the mind. Every strong body is reigned by an even stronger mind. That’s why, by starting with your weakest link which has the greatest potential to become your strongest, you’ll have all tools at your hand to become a success, a happy, thriving, wonderful individual who can inspire others to go for their dreams too. You might think it’s your body which is your weak link... And I understand you think so when you have tons of fat to lose or lots of muscle to build.. But trust me, your body has just followed you. Now it’s time you lead your body the way. You’re the emperor of your body and body will follow your mind. Discipline your dedication and you’ll achieve all your goals.
