Hi there from green and dust-free church office :)...the rain - TopicsExpress

Hi there from green and dust-free church office :)...the rain was/is glorious and I am sitting watching the grass outside my office window grow (in between working of course!). Sunday saw 11 young people make a public confession of their faith in the Lord in a moving service of confirmation. Below is the Thought for the Week. Have a blessed week ahead and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday... Dear Friends, I had two pleasant surprises this week. Firstly, someone in their wisdom declared Wednesday ‘Boss’ Day’ (did you know that?), and Keryn, Pam and Nicola organized a lovely gift for me! I was not aware of this most noble of days, a long overdue celebration , and so it was quite a treat to receive an unexpected gift. Thank you ladies. Secondly, today (Thursday), Marie Byliefeldt arrived at the office with a ‘death by chocolate’ cake. Why, you may ask? Well, she told us that today is the third anniversary of her becoming a member of our congregation and she wants to celebrate and say thank you. Now this is a wonderful idea!! I think we should consider this a mandatory part of being a member of our congregation, i.e. marking the anniversary of your becoming part of St Saviour’s by giving us at the Church Office a gift ! Seriously, though, I thought Marie’s gesture was a wonderful reminder to us that our belong to God’s family is something to rejoice about. In today’s second service, 11 young people are going to profess their faith in Jesus and be formally welcomed into membership in this congregation. Confirmation is something to be celebrated! This year’s group has been particularly engaging in the discussions we have had together. They have shown a hunger to understand what faith in Jesus means and what belonging to his family entails. So, I give thanks for them and the step they are taking today in publicly declaring their faith in Christ and their desire to serve him and others. Please pray for them: Christine Cherry, Musa Furumele, Vicki Laing, Emma Leighton, Gina Lodolo, Margaux Salmon, Alex Thomson, Carly Twaddle, Carmen Wright, Brandon Xavier and Isaiah Zuza. Lots of love, Chris
