Hi, this is your Admin to IAS Help (HS). I am not around but our co-admin Nancy is doing a great job with the page. I congratulate her. Friends, I was receiving many queries from aspirants who are new to the field of UPSC and tilted towards the pre-concieved notion to take coaching from ias institutes. They ask me which institute is best? In this article i am going to deal with you some facts that you must keep in mind while selecting an institute. NOTE:- I, however, recommend, through my personal experience, coaching is not really required for UPSC, but, if one wants to take it then I am only trying to provide them(on the request of ample queries, i get) a list of few good institutes that i considered best in Delhi. (I am not making it an official ranking and this is entirely my subjective view. It may however change in the course of time as nothing remains static.). However, If one feels that their own institute(the one in which they are studying) is better; then it is my suggestion that they should stick to their own institute because what they would be teaching you, will not be a waste of time and money! Success depends not solely through Coaching but through our own Hard work! Coaching can be beneficial in just two cases 1- acquaint with the subject-matter 2- streamlining your preparation. As of now, if you have not made any financial commitment in a institute then you are free to choose any institute.. The first thing to do now is you should be critical in choosing the coaching and try not to go by name only. check which one has the Maximum Selection Percentage(MSP). ALS Vajiram and Ravi Sriram IAS Vision IAS KSG Dhyey IAS DIrection IAS They are few good institutes in my personaly view(I wrote in ranking)... visit all of them. (ALS i have mentioned number one because It publishes plethora of magazines and books which are essential and indispensible for IAS preparation.) If you want to choose the best one within the given list or even outside (in your state) then read the below as I have explained the criteria to choose an institute. You can choose as per your convenience. Basic criterias to select a coaching institute should be 1- Maximum Selection Percentage (MSP) of any institute(no. of candidates selected each year in last two-three years) 2- faculty and their experience(their experience in IAS teaching and their educational background should be par imagination. Most institutes have some sections good and other average.) 3- your cost of traveling( this is very important for those who have financial limitations out of any reason. paying such a huge amount and then traveling cost will make them under huge financial pressure. So keep this point along with you.) 4- how much time you would get for your self study.(Self Study is very very very important. revise which is taught in your class ample number of time and reserve some time for your own study from other books which are standard.) 5- Last but not the least, never choose that institute which will say Dont worry. Just read what we are teaching and don not read outside. our material will be sufficient because that will block your mental development and that mental development is very very essential in bringing out originality in your mains and interviews. I wish you all the success for your future and hope you will come out with flying colors next year. All the best! :) Admin HS. co-admin Nancy. #iashelp
