Hi to all of our wonderful family and friends! Thank you for journeying with us these past few days! Today was an exceptional day because I got to take a SHOWER (hahaha) kidding of course! But really it was another great day to say the least even though the morning started out a little rough! Maddie was having a little bit more pain today than yesterday but that was totally to be expected and she got the help that she needed when she needed it! By the afternoon she was starting to act a little more like the sweet, spunky Maddie that were used to. All labs and tests and reports came back perfect so they were able to remove the chest tube, pace maker wires (never had to use them praise The Lord) and her femoral artery line! She was a champ through it all. So brave this little one is. So all she has left is a few electrodes that continue to measure her heart function, a pulse oxygen thingy (very clinical term I know) and a IV line in her foot! After all this was removed I was able to pick her up myself whenever I wanted to and cuddle her until my heart was content. Another one of the steps to take was getting an echocardiogram done! She slept through the entire thing and the tech was done in no time. The cardiologist came in a little while later and gave us some news that was slightly less than perfect. He said that Maddie has a very very small patch leak where the VSD was but in the same breath reassured us that it was very common with a VSD and really shouldnt affect her a great deal. Well find out more about it when we talk with the surgeon and our own cardiologist next week. Needless to say we definitely had the wind taken out of our sails a little bit because of course we wanted EVERYTHING to be absolutely flawless and the news was obviously disappointing but the first thing I remembered was the fact that everything has been a journey of faith up until this point with Maddie (and really my sons too) and Im never the one who gets to decide when that faith journey stops and how it will stop. 2 Cor 4:9 came to mind persecuted but not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed. James 1:2-4 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. God is good! Amen and Goodnight!!
