If You See Me b/w Games from the upcoming album Purple Snow.() 6.50 THE BEETS - Play Silver Nickels and Golden Dimes 7 (hardly art - New York band the Beets cover two songs by their GOD: Howard Stern. Enough said.) 6.50 FLYTE TYME - Its The Things That You Do 7 (numero - Comes on purple vinyl! Its the Things That You Do b/w Ive Got You On My Mind from the upcoming album Purple Snow.) 6.50 GERANIUM / FINISTERRE - split 7 (contrastz - Both bands have been around for some time now and maintain a long-lasting friendship, that is finally pressed on this little piece of vinyl ! FINISTERRE from Cologne / Germany deliver two excellent songs, probably their most matured and outstanding output ever. Their previous one-sided 12 Hexis already guided the direction and Finisterre take up this path and follow it further, playing an intense and dark style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, and sludge, within their distinct own sound. Hardcore with a crust edge - dark & sometimes melodic, with great female vocals and deep political lyrics! On the other side - GERANIÜM from Strassbourg / France with one long songs full of anger and despair. Incredibly brutal! They have been playing a lot since their last years LP and should be well known to everyone into HC / Neo-Crust à la Ekkaia and Alpinist.) 5.00 MÜLHEIM ASOZIAL - straight edge kids would never do this 7 (contrasz - Zeitsprung – zurück in die frühen Achtziger Jahre: drei Akkorde und markante Parolen. DOWN - renegades 7 (start a fire - The new WOLF DOWN Renegades EP really takes the cake! It took the band over 6 months of work to make the transition from their MMXI EP. With the Renegades EP they surely deliver the goods and the result is a record with 4 super heavy pissed off songs! Whoever hasn?t heard of WOLF DOWN, they play angry moshy Hardcore with political lyrics.) 5.00 LP AMENRA - mass III LP (church of -- This is the repress of the first belgian band record, AMEN RA joined NEUROT RECORDINGS for their third album (Mass V). This first record really defines the AMEN RA sound : a mix between dark post-metal and rough sludge with screamy and oppressive vocals.) 19.00 ASFIXIA / ANNUNAKI REVENGE - split LP (contrastz - For some this record might sound as a relict from the past, but its still so very intense and powerful. Its out of a time when a lot of great bands from spain/basque/galicia like EKKAIA, MADAME GERMEN, ICTUS… had a huge impact on the european HC/Punk/Crust Scene. I know the recordings since years now and i am still so very much blown away every time i hear them! Originally this was planned as a 10 of ASFIXIA about 5 years ago, but they sadly decided to call it quits and split up before it was ever got released. ASFIXIA from Bilbao/Basque country deliver some very intense & emotional HC/Punk/Crust (whatever you wanna call it!), they had their absolute unique sound with wonderful sweet melodies, abpruptly crushing into anger & despair. Radical, political lyrics dealing with the cruelty of mankind & the major impact of technologies on humankind - very intense and very elaborated - presented by the sharp, screaming vocals of their female singer. At times it reminds me of bands such as ANOMIE or UNHINGED. ANNUNAKI REVENGE also from the basque country - unleash six songs on this split lp. Midtempo Crustpunk that managed to create an thoughtful atmosphere through the space it leaves for intense and direct guitar riffing and melodies, backed up by the right amount of D-Beat drumming and lyrics presented mostly in basque language. This record is a benefit record for an anarchist printing collective called IRRINTZI, based in Vitoria-Gasteiz / Basque country. It comes in a really beautiful screenprinted, three colored cardboard cover and along with a thick 20 page booklet with lyrics, translations and long explanations to all songs. You can definitely see, feel and hear that this record is more than just a piece of music. Its about D.I.Y., ideals, friendship and passion!) 10.00 BOARDS OF CANADA - Music Has the Right to Children (Reissue) DLP (warp - 140g pressing cut from original metalwork and includes a download code!) 22.00 BOARDS OF CANADA - Geogaddi (Reissue) 3xLP (warp - 140g pressing recut by Noel Summerville from original DAT master. Includes etching on side F. 6-panel gatefold that includes a download code!) 25.00 BOARDS OF CANADA - Campfire Headphase (Reissue) 3xLP (warp - 140g pressing cut from original metalwork, includes a digital download code!) 22.00 GRAND DETOUR - s/t LP (diy - Finest French instrumental postrock from Toulon with people who played Aussitiot Mort, Child Meadow & Bökanövsky. LP comes on white vinyl with a gorgeous screenprinted cover. granddetour.bandcamp/album/s-t) 11.00 HERMELIN - besser als nichts LP (spint the - First vinyl release by Hermelin from Hannover/Berlin/Hamburg. 4 songs full of mellow and epic Postrock. Check: hermelin.bandcamp/album/besser-als-nichts) 11.00 KATHY HEIDEMAN - Move With Love LP (numero - Lodged between a heartbreak and a smoke break, Kathy Heidemans Move With Love wandered off I-5 somewhere just south of Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation area and broke down.) 18.00 LA LUZ - Its Alive LP (hardly art - Seattle surf-noir quartet La Luz release their highly anticipated full length LP after collecting up high praise in regards to their live shows from LA to Texas to New York and everywhere in between and around! And no wonder there...The band has caused even the most jaded show goer to join in on the dance party by way of Soul Train. Musically, the bands address is somewhere around the Lively Ones, right next to the Shangri-Las, and across the street from Mazzy Star. You should look them up! This band has chops! This band has surf! This band has songs! Its the band you have been waiting for.) 17.00 MARK McGUIRE - the instinct LP (new images - Former Emerald Mark McGuire channels Tangerine Dream and Manuel Göttsching on his new solo album. Its a proper untethered kosmic journey in two parts: A-side The Instinct combines soaring guitars and synths with a propulsive techno rhythm thats equal parts Jan Hammer and Carl Craig, but heard from a real outsider stance. It makes Petar Dundovs recent kosmische techno excursions pale in comparison by giving it all up, from the sky-scraping guitar solo to the untethered arpeggios and genuinely weighty, dancefloor-ready machine rhythms prepped to blow minds at the right time, in the right place. B-side, New Adaptations (Of The Human Spirit) is a sublime, expansive counterpoint first realised for McGuires 2012 tour of New Zealand, veering from intergalactic synth blooms to shimmering guitars, rolling drums and drifting vocal harmonies with the sweetest intent and astral ambition.) 17.00 MOURNING CLOAK - no visible light LP (vendetta / adagio830 - Greensboro, NC’s Mourning Cloak, made up of members of Torch Runner, Graf Orlock & Braveyoung (Giant). No Visible Light clocks in at just over 33 minutes of crushing riffs, devastating beats and thunderous vocals. “No Visible Light.” The title is apt, because this is an ominous cloud blocking the sun, raining down charcoal dust, black mud, and infant ash on us all Their Facebook page refers to their music as “funeral doom/punk,” but I only hear the former in this track. But this doesn’t sulk through the cemetery, it grooves hard enough to split the catacombs in half, releasing the crypt bats into the air. After the quickly dissipating opening ambience the guitars crawl from open graves and shake the rust off their bones with godless black-and-blues riffs. There is suck a thick layer of slime and sludge on this song that it reminds me of that barrier of grime and giant centipedes Indiana Jones’ love interest sticks her hand through in Temple of Doom. If you don’t get that reference, here it is in non-geek language: This song is nasty and unpleasant in the most sadistically delightful ways possible. The vocalist sounds like he’s plummeting into a bottomless pit, shaking hands with the devil to make a pact to finally break his fall. This is some seriously bleak stuff that fans of Bongzilla and Cough should feverishly inhale. ( mister growl ) black on black silkscreenprint, downloadcard included) 11.00 PYRAMIDO - saga LP (farewell - Swedens Pyramido seem to be the joy of every sludge fan out there. Pyramido is doomy, sludgy, crusty, stoner-esque, and while their music is laced with generics, there is also something extremely well calculated about their brand of doomy sludge. Just like before I draw comparisons to Grief and Noothgrush, but with less Electric Wizard and with the added flair of Eyehategod and Crowbar, completing Pyramido?s journey into the sludgy swamp pits of stonered doom. Like all the songs on here, there isnt a huge amount of riffs but each one of the riffs crushes you into submission. If you like Sludge/Doom played with a lot of crusty anger, then check it out. Top notch!) 11.00 RED FANG - Whales and Leeches LP (relapse – Whales and Leeches sees Red Fang further maturing into top notch songwriters and musicians. With the help of guests Mike Scheidt (Yob) and Pall Jenkins (The Black Heart Procession), Whales and Leeches further propels Red Fang into the upper stratosphere of hard rock and metal elite.) 17.00 RENE HELL - vanilla call option LP (pan - Jeff Witscher, aka idiosyncratic electronic musician Rene Hell, presents a typically considered, challenging debut release via PAN. Those whove encountered his acclaimed albums for Type, or his NNA Tapes split with OPN, will hear a defined progress in Vanilla Call Option, whilst those new to his music should be prepared for a visceral, cerebral exploration of piercing timbres and sheer, hi-end computer sounds that in turn recall the evocative beatless treatments on Lee Gambles incredible Diversions set and Rashad Beckers more recent deviations from linear production templates on his Traditional Music Of Notional Species. The fancier kosmic elements of his previous work are now all but junked in favour of a more subtle, underlying approach to melody giving prominence to experimental, probing psycho-acoustics. Its really one of the most physically affective records weve heard since Florian Heckers last attempt to shave our inner ear hairs, and conducted with a similarly philosophical logic attempting to construct vertical narratives from a new language of timing and flight. Yet, whilst theres a rigour and discipline to Vanilla Call Option, wed refrain from labelling it Academic music: theres a playfulness, however obtuse, most literally manifest in the title of This Is Chess (hes a keen player, apparently) which sustains interest beyond any concepts, while the brooding, distant drone symphony, Merci cheri, or Furniture Music, have an innate emotional value. Ultimately, its a beguiling record which is likely to perplex and draw reactions, no mean feat in itself, and another fascinating transmission from a label thats on fire right now.) 21.00 SILENT SCREAM - public execution LP (pain in mind - Public Execution is second full lenght studio album from Finns Silent Scream, formerly known as Varjo, who were founded back in 1996 and got quite a reputation in Finnish underground corners. In recent post-punk renaissance with a lot of bland releases this one strucks with its creativity, authenticity, energy and a lot of in your face thrown dirty old school passages. Two things that got me interested in this album are: front cover artwork, with explicit photo of the execution of a Finnish soldier, who has escaped from the frontline in the second world war, shot just seconds before his death. And bands drummer Jukka Laine whos the member also in great melancholic rockers ShamRain. Everything what those three guys do reaches the right goal. Strong and vivacious, yet aggressive and emotional vocals, dirty, raw but still effective, sometimes even dominant bass lines and distorted guitar riffs, together with some amazing drum work and before mentioned interesting use of electronics, synths, sax. Nice dynamic song structures, tracks around three minutes in lenght and a lot of talent just screams to be consumed. Public Execution holds power, emotion, its not an easy record, but one that needs you to reflect upon it, Im sure that it will leave some knots in your stomach. Production is raw and it should be like that. For fans of UK Decay, Killing Joke, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Christian Death, Misfits, Danzig,... – Terrarelicta) 11.00 UNWOUND - Kid Is Gone 3xLP BOX (numero - Kid Is Gone is the unquiet portrait of primal Unwound. Before 1993’s Fake Train ripped through, they’d been Giant Henry, Supertanker, and Cygnus X-1, short-lived black holes gathering dark material into something built to explode. From Justin Trosper, Vern Rumsey, and Brandt Sandeno’s first restive years, “Crab Nebula” might’ve best prepared the indie-sphere for what Unwound became, had Sandeno’s split not stalled their planned debut. Part 1 in Numero’s 4-part reissue project, Kid Is Gone documents signal chaos in Olympia’s fertile scene before Unwound’s turbulent noise hit stride, in unrevealed period photos, 34 tracks, and three LPs—cassette-only demos, early 7”s, a KAOS radio broadcast, material tracked live in a local basement, and all of what became 1994’s Unwound, on which the band’s prehistory plays out in a feral maelstrom of screaming, distortion, feedback, and abrasive promise) 44.00 WHITEHORSE / NEGATIVE STANDARDS - split LP (vendetta - two of the heaviest bands around team up for one split record, australias whitehorse once more deliver ultrabrutal sludge/doom with one of the sickest vocalists around, think a sludgier corrupted ; negative standards from the states are all over the place once more, mixing aggressive hardcore / power violence with mean sludge and even some black metal, and some samples added, sick - mastered by james plotkin ; artwork by kevin gan yuen ( sutekh hexen ) we also just repressed the negative standards lp, so this one is available again, and they will tour europe in october with bacchus and throwers...) 11.00 WOLF DOWN - stray from the path LP (start a fire - Finally! After two awesome singles, WOLF DOWN unleashes their debut album Stray From The Path. 11 new tracks build this proper full length that features guest vocals by Jogges/Empowerment and Greg Bennick/Trial. The LP comes in a fancy gatefoldcover with an astonishing artwork by Jon Macnair. With this record, WD raised the bar for european hardcore into new heights!) 12.00 On it’s way Doomriders new LP New ALL PIGS MUST DIE LP BOTCH – we are the romans DLP Red Hare Lp restock Youth Attack stuff Robbie Basho LP New stuff from Slumberland (Terry Malts etc) And much more
