Highlights From MISD Board Meeting on 8/6/13: • 2013-14 budget proposed. Highlights include: - No school tax rate increase (currently $1.34 per $100 of property value); however, most people will see overall property taxes go up because property values increased by $6000 per household on average - Revenue of $8700 per student, including local and state funds; this represents an increase of about $100 per student from 2012-13 - Overall MISD budget increase of $3MM from $49MM in 2012-13 to $52MMin 2013-14 - Of the $3MM budget increase, $2MM will go to salary raises and additional staff; the remaining $1MM will be spent on technology improvements, 2 new buses, and various other departmental needs - Final approval of the budget and tax rate will be at the 8/20 board meeting • Other business: - Approval of student code of conduct - Approval of agreement with the Montgomery County Juvenile Board to provide alternative education services for MISC (aka “JJAEP”) - Approval of proposals for workers comp and property/casualty insurance
