Hindu beliefs do not require food certification because all food is considered sacred. {godblogs.srv.org/food-and-worship} I know thats going to be difficult for those who want to avoid Hindu food, but thats just how it is! Buddhists it seems have no such problems because as, the Dalai Lama himself declared on no less a platform for religious teaching than Masterchef Australia Whatever I get I accept. As a Buddhist monk it is not right to prefer this food or that food. {dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2016081/Dalai-Lama-Australian-Masterchef-reveals-favourite-foods.html} Those non-Christians wanting to avoid pre-blessed food will need to be very careful. A quick search suggests that the Pope has GM rice {goldenrice.org/}, seafood {news.google/newspapers?nid=1346&dat=19840913&id=5jROAAAAIBAJ&sjid=v_sDAAAAIBAJ&pg=6859,5365649} and a range of other foodstuffs covered. Guide dogs {news.discovery/animals/guide-dog-among-the-firsts-blessed-by-pope-francis-130317.htm} and motorbikes {news.au/lifestyle/home/pope-blesses-hundreds-of-harley-davidsons/story-fneuz6rh-1226664746579} are also blessed but cannot, of course, be eaten. And thats just the Pope. I fear further research will reveal that there have been many Christian Ministers (believe me I know them) gratuitously tossing blessings about for years without so much as a stamp or marking available to assist those who might want to abstain from such blessed food on philosophical grounds. Strange that this has not been more of a problem for my Muslim friends over the years really... So as the international business community reads about Australias latest ill informed, hysterical and divisive campaigning against Halal certification, it seems bitterly ironic that one of the more sensible positions on food blessing and consumption appears to come from the Koran itself. It says to its followers This day all good things are made lawful for you. The food of the People of the Book [meaning the Jews and the Christians] is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them... (Chapter 5, verse 5)
