“Hip-hop is old enough now to have entered the realm of credible nostalgia,” said Tom Silverman, the founder of the pioneering hip-hop label Tommy Boy Records. “I’m sure there are kids now who think ‘3 Feet High and Rising’ by De La Soul is a rite of passage... Yup, us kids who grew up on Run-DMC, De La Soul, and Public Enemy are now hitting our 40s and, just like our parents listened to Classic Rock stations in the 80s and 90s, we want to hear the music we grew up with. Ive been toying with this idea for a while. Id love to find a local radio station interested in working with me on a classic rap show, or maybe I should start doing a podcast? What do you think? nytimes/2014/12/16/business/media/classic-hip-hop-is-spreading-on-the-radio-dial.html
