His (Jesus) death was the ultimate expression of My (God) love for you. I gave up everything I loved that I might gain your love. I believe even amongst Christians that the doctrine of the Godhead (Trinity) is still hard to understand for many, so here itis simply.... God never sent somebody else to die in His place. It was He Himself that died on that cross for you and me. Then why call Jesus Gods Son ifin in fact Jesus IS God? Emmanuel (Jesus, God with us, God in flesh). Because it is the best way to demonstrate His ultimate, never ending love towards us! :) Many people will give their own lives up, but not their children, amen?! We love our children too much, and will gladly die in their stead. But God demonstrates His love to us enough to give us the only person He loved, Jesus, His Son.
