Hit Report 01/11/14 Cattistock Hunt The Kings Arms Portesham Another pub to not go to, hosting an illegal hunt. kingsarmsportesham.co.uk/ At least 70 riders, a few kids amongst them at the first Saturday meet for this season. Joined by Somerset Hunt Saboteur Group and several vehicles, there was no hiding place for the hunt as they headed to Rodden then Langton Herring. At this point 4 quads surrounded one of the sab vehicles, stealing a horn and breaking it. This is now under police investigation, the assailant escaped the eyes of the police later on, but he can be found on the hunt website. One of the others involved in intimidating sabs was Joe Turner last seen on the closing meet of the South Dorset Hunt in April. With just a handful of foot sabs, it was a difficult day to sab and contest with gale force winds. At a vantage point foot sabs found a badger sett completely blocked up and totally illegal interference. Fresh quad tracks, digging marks, boot prints and even that of a dog showed this was fresh. This has been reported to the police. As the hunt drew through Ware Wood we noticed a mule, buggy?quad type vehicle about 200m away. Foot sabs stayed at the sett location for nearly three hours until the hunt left the area. They then carried on to Abbotsbury Swannery and a favourite haunt of theirs the reed beds. Sure enough at about 3.45 sabs spotted a fox bolt from where the huntsman had been and escaped to safety as the hunt failed to spot it, much to the delight of sabs. The hunt were brazen enough to ride through with hounds Abbotsbury Swannery a tourist attraction, owned by the joint master Charlotte Townshend. If hunts think that they can intimidate us by violence and causing criminal damage then thats not gonna happen. There was a poor attempt by the hunt at the end of the day to try to provoke us, but we wont bite. As far as we could tell from observing the hunt all day and the state of their hounds, there were no kills. If you want to help Dorset Hunt Sabs by joining us please pm or email [email protected]
