Hiya Debs and Bill , Bill do you remember that ? Debs has Bill ever told you of our trips to the Reading Rock Festival , one year Bill really wanted to go he`d mentioned to his mates but they arranged to go without him I was skint Bill said if I went he would buy the tickets , we hitch-hiked the whole way about 300 miles it was a blinding weekend saw some great bands and we did meet up with Bills mates , they had come down by coach when the festival was over Bill and I set off to hitch-hike back much to the amusement of his friends who had return tickets , we got to the motorway and wrote Durham on a piece of cardboard a car pulled up it was a jaguar with a husband and wife in , we would have been over the moon just to get to Durham , on route they said where abouts in Durham lads ( they had a pub in Durham ) not wanting to push our luck we said Houghton-le-Spring ( we knew we could easily get a bus to Easington Lane it was only 5 minutes away ) they then asked where abouts in Houghton did we want dropping off we said the bus station they said where abouts do you actually live ? we said The Lane (for those who don`t know Easington Lane was known as Dodge City , and I do not lie or jest when I say it deserves the title but the people there were the best I`ve ever known ) they then said we`ve got a mate with a pub in the LANE they dropped us off at our houses we got cleaned up and went for a pint I can`t remember the pubs name it was opposite the Lane club (was it the Red Lion) Bill and I sat there knowing that the lads had said that they were going to have a pint when they got back , we sat back in our chairs and grinned like Cheshire Cats as they walked in ( if memory recollects correctly ) they got there at 8.30pm Bill and I were there at 6.10pm Oh happy days
