Hmm... Something odd has happened to me. PART FOUR!!! I sat in deep thought in the cleared dining room of the cafe as the sun quietly set, leaving gleaming sunshine in the path of the restaurant. After discovering the initials on the pendant yesterday, I had asked around to see if anyone knew whose initials those might belong to. I was nearly tempted to ask Rosemary LeVeaux. But that remains only my last resort...which I may have already come to. (sighs) I am at my wits end. Well, well, well, a smiling Rosemary waltzed into the cafe, ambling across to my table where I sat. If it isnt a lonely Elizabeth Thatcher...schoolmarm and future spinster. I glared onward with my forehead creased as I refused to lift my gaze to meet hers. What can I do for you, Miss LeVeaux? I said throught clenched teeth. Rosemary took it upon herself to be seated across from me. Oh, word has it around town that a mysterious gift was left for our teacher. Rosemary smiled broadly. I thought Id come see for myself. Theres nothing to see, I glanced upward, smiling sarcastically. Oh, Rosemary was taken aback slightly. If you insist. She rose to leave. I must be on my way then. She grinned. I am to meet someone special within the hour. No doubt you do, I mumbled under my breath. Pardon? I lifted my gaze. No doubt you are right. Have a good day. I forced a smile. Say, Elizabeth...Would you mind if I have a look at your mystery necklace? I dont see why not. I handed the item to her. Rosemary chuckled aloud. What? I queried, unsure what could have been so funny. Rosemary handed the item back and headed for the cafes entrance. Turning back halfway, Rosemary ceased her laughing. I was surprised to hear an edge of sadness in her voice. Perhaps you should tell the Constable about your ordeal. He most likely would care far more for your problems than for mine. What could she have meant by that? Surely ulterior motives saturated even the most remorseful of her statements. I brushed the moment away with confidence as I paused and recalled the special moment when Jack gave me that beautiful drawing while assuring me that I was the only one....THE ONLY ONE!!!! I jumped upward while chuckling victoriously as I hurried towards the kitchen, the pendant in my hand. I had to tell someone! TO BE CONTINUED
