Holy Schmoly this makes me gag. Richard Reeves is trying to coin a new term, High-Investment Parenting which sounds a lot to me like justify the fact that youre so obsessed with everything your child does you dont have time for your mate, your friends, or your self. Not for me, thank you very much. And not great for kids either. YES - theres nuance here: involved parents are a good thing; over-involvement is harmful; the detail is in the difference. To me Reeves is a bit too gleeful about what parents give up when they over-parent and a bit too glib about the harmful effects of hovering over our kids. (He says, there has developed a small backlash against over-parenting and child-centered marriages. Perhaps a few parents are overdoing it. We don’t really know.) A FEW are overdoing it?? A SMALL BACKLASH? Someone needs to write a book on this. :D Thanks Simon Firth for posting.
