Home school myth: what about learning math? Its not that hard to get your kid into college. Really. We substitute high school with community college and plan to move on to university from there. When my daughter expressed an interest in mechanical engineering, intimidated by the amount of math needed (multi-variable calculus, differential equations, engineering statistics), a ME with a masters degree told her, You dont really need the math. You just need to pass the class so you understand what the computer is doing. Software programmers who put math into the software? Same thing. Math isnt useful for anything until you apply it to something.
