Hon. Mike Sebalu MP of East Africa Legislative Assembly in his opening remarks emphasized that EAFF is a very strategic partner when it comes to Regional integration. Integrating farmers means integrating East Africans. Farmers must participate fully in the common market, trade using the value chains which are available. None of the partner state have such a market. Farming should be used as a tool of integration. He also mentioned that in the coming week, the Cooperative Societies Bill will be read for the 2nd and 3rd time and it will be passed into law. And this is one of the tools for regional integration. EAFF President emphasized that we need to use Trade as a catalyst. The concern is that the level of our production is low. In order for farmers to be able to produce more they must be motivate by trade. EAFF has organized Business to business meetings and that is what has motivated the private sector to interact with us today.
