Honda arrived as a stray so his background is not known. Honda is an neutered male, tricolored (white, black and brown brindle), approximately 8 year old, purebred Akita. He is well mannered and the first greeting he gives anyone is a very vigorous tail wagging. He has no guard dog type skills, knowledge, or, abilities. Honda howls like a wolf in the kennel singing his plaintiff wail to anyone within ear shot. As Akitas go Honda is a great dog and his behavior is much more like a Labrador Retriever than an Akita. He gets along well with other dogs and is housebroken. Honda has excellent leash manners and loves to ride in the car. Connecticut is one of only a few states to take part in the Animal Population Control Program (APCP). The program was established in May of 1995 to provide vaccination and sterilization benefits for any unsterilized dog or cat adopted from a municipal impound facility. After selection your new pet and paying a $50 adoption fee, you will receive a vaccination/ sterilization voucher. Adopters MUST take their new pet to a participating veterinarian for an examination and to schedule surgery. All pets MUST be sterilized within 60 days from the adoption date to receive benefits. Honda does not qualify for this program as he is already sterilized. For more information or to arrange to meet with Honda please call Norwich Animal Control at 860-887-5747.
