Honestly when you watch what a small minority is doing to this country it becomes difficult to care about politics. The only way you can make yourself is to remember that shit runs down hill,so somebody is suffering because of all of this. Were seeing the back end of a revolution that hijacked a political party. Not the Tea Party but their intellectual forefathers the John Birch Society. There are good Republicans and I would even say good Republican politicians. Nelson Rockefeller and Dwight Eisenhower come to mind. But a small group of political bomb throwers, he believed in no rules whatsoever FOR BUSINESS only(you get plenty of rules on the other hand,tough on crime and all). Started hijacking the entire party. They got some things to make them not sound mean spirited but intellectual, a hack writer who remade her love of serial killers in to freedom of spirit,a minor economist who wanted to be a major one(ironically considering Freidman accidentally proved a lot of his theories didnt work in the late 70s I dont think Milton believed in trickle down as much as being on TV)and a spokesmodel in Ronnie. But after the revolution,as the theories failed more and more,the party has been retracting in to smaller and smaller boxes in a never ending quest to win elections by any means necessary. Being a public servant,or helping people,is gone baby gone, all thats left increasingly gerrymandered districts,with increasingly bizarre voting laws,and increasingly free wheeling spending on elections. The Tea Partiers in the house dont care about governance, they only care about convincing the chunderknuckles back home that they are a true believer too. So theyll crash the economy in a race to be king of the nutjobs. It gets really easy at this point to throw up your hands and not care, but then you remember, shit runs down hill, and real people are gonna suffer for all of this stupidity.
