Honolulu has been a good city for my Magic life. Three Lulu Pro - TopicsExpress

Honolulu has been a good city for my Magic life. Three Lulu Pro Tours ago, back in 2009, I had the highest finish of my career before jetting off to Wizards to kick off a journey that fills as though it began eons ago. Two Lulu Pro Tours ago, at PT Dark Ascension in 2012, I launched my stint as a color commentator, guest-spotting in the booth for what was arguably the first PT under the present-day system. I cant tell you how rewarding these past couple of years have been, simultaneously helping to build Magics identity as a real-world e-sport while getting to share my passion and excitement with hundreds of thousands of people on any given weekend--and, in the process, living out a childhood dream of working as a TV personality (sorta!). I guess thats why its fitting that at this past Lulu Pro Tour, Pro Tour Khans of Tarkir, it feels as though Ive come full-circle. This event will have been my last event as a broadcaster for the Magic PT. Ive loved every second of it. When I first started at The Future Project, we were a scrappy young startup with very few defined schedules and even fewer fully-defined responsibilities. The world is different now--in ways that are 100% positive--and its become too much of a disruption to leave my team for a week every couple of months and disappear into the world of fantasy card gaming. That doesnt mean I love it any less, but its my responsibility to my students and my team to be honest with myself about where my priorities ought to lie. It feels brutal, in some ways, to finally cut the cord of my official involvement with Wizards of the Coast--with the game thats defined the whole of me--since I first started working as a Developer over half a decade ago now. At the same time, Im excited about the renewed focus this move will allow me to have, including a couple personal projects that have been on the back-burner for a long time now (that dont demand jaunts halfway around the world!). The thing is, I cant imagine a world of mine without the Magic PT. Ill be back before too long. This just means that if I *am* going to make it back, Ima have to do it the hard way! :D All of you who have been involved in this journey know I love you. Youve shaped my own becoming, and Ill owe you forever for that.
