(Hope Im not contravening net etiquette with this - its a post from another group I help Admin, but I felt so stringly about it, I thought Id put it up here for discussion. It is so typical - and yet so brutally arrogant - of a certain variety of religious fundamentalist, that he is so eager to assert his opinion that he is capable of this level of insensitivity. Even after Id blasted him for this one, he came back with yet more victim blaming and rape apologetics in support of his vile god. Heres the original post: (bear in mind he is addressing a woman who said she lost her faith after being brutally raped) ........ Im sorry to hear you had such a horrible experience. I, too have prayed for things I deeply wanted and did not receive them. Ive never experienced something as bad as you did, but God did not rescue me from my bad experiences either. But youve made it plain to see that your reaction to God is quite emotional, not logical. I would advise you for your sake to begin dealing with the truth that God allowed this rape to happen to you, and seek the answers to that, rather than out of bitterness, live a life declaring something you know isnt true, that God doesnt exist. You are so angry at God that it can be relieving to just say he doesnt exist, but that doesnt help you any to keep propping that delusion. The evidence for this: your hints that God is to blame for all of this and that rape is a terribly wrong thing to do. If you truly didnt believe in God, you would be speaking more of how angry you are at the big bang, for arranging particles in such a way that the inevitable chemical reactions led to your rape. I say this in hopes that you will embrace the truth and start dealing with it. You can be healed of this past hell. I know this, because I have seen someone with almost the exact same story, completely restored and healed through seeking God....
