Hope is on my mind! As I reflected on 1 Thessalonians 4:13-15 - TopicsExpress

Hope is on my mind! As I reflected on 1 Thessalonians 4:13-15 this morning, I had the strong impression SOMEONE needs hope this morning!! Excerpted from Beth Moore’s “Children of the Day” reflections on 1 Thessalonians 4:13: Hopelessness is accepting that you are doomed and, as the condition advances, it’s not only you - the whole world is doomed…For a child of God, hopelessness is the most unnecessary condition in the entire bag of mind tricks, but even the most righteous can cater to it. Job said: What strength do I have that I should continue to hope? What is my future, that I should be patient? Is my strength that of stone, or my flesh made of bronze? Since I cannot help myself, the hope for success has been banished from me. Job 6:11-13 As spiritual people, we tend to tie our hopelessness to our belief that God has somehow let us down or refused to come through. Job’s raw confession conveys that he felt hopeless because he could not help himself. Let this one go deep, Sister: God is your help. He is your strength. This whole thing is not dependent on you. In Him is your future and it is bright with His countenance. Be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24 I will praise You forever for what You have done. In the presence of Your faithful people, I will put my hope in Your name, for it is good. Psalm 52:9 (Your name) put your hope in the Lord. For there is faithful love with the Lord, and with Him is redemption in abundance. Psalm 130:7 Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. Romans 12:12 I pray that the perception of your mind may be enlightened so you may know what is the hope of His calling. Ephesians 1:18a Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 Life can be painful here. Loss is inevitable. So let us grieve when we must, but God forbid that we grieve as the hopeless do. In His hands, we find solace. In His heart, we find rest. In His time we find meaning. In His eyes, we are blessed. In His strength, we’re made mighty. In His light, morning breaks. In His Word He has promised. In His coming, sleepers wake.
