Hope this sends shivers down your spine, and maybe lend some support to the continuation of manned spaceflight. Many of the locations are identifiable and realistically depicted. You can usually recognize a moon by its host planet. e.g. Triton is seen later on, given that Neptune is visible in the sky. That said, I havent checked that angular sizes are correct. e.g. at 2:32 some astronauts are walking on the surface of a Galilean moon, with another visible against the backdrop of Jupiter. I cant recognize which is which without looking it up, but Im not sure if such a scene is possible. But honestly, it probably is, because I really think this team did their homework. There are many other things that are conspicuously NOT far-fetched. I noticed a space elevator (probably on Mars?), which is actually realistically discussed even for the Earth [1]. And exploration by blimp is a real idea too. [2] There are also people flapping around with bird-like wings. It turns out that in certain atmospheres, this is actually feasible. The cold of Titan is just an engineering problem. With the right refitting, and the right heat sources, a Cessna 172 could fly on Titan—and so could we. [3] Theres also what looks like the surface of a planet painted in the inside of a cylinder. Im guessing this is a space station, for which the rotating cylinder is a common hypothetical design. [4] These are actually used quite often, though often in a more ring-like design. e.g. Ringworld, Elysium, Halo.
