Hopes final update 12/31/2014 So this is where we part, My Friend, And youll run on, around the bend. Gone from sight, but not from our hearts and minds, new pleasures there youll surely find. I will go on; Ill find the strength, Life measures quality, not its length. One long embrace before you leave, we share one last look, before I grieve. There are others, that much is true, But they be they, and they arent you. And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought, Will remember well all youve taught. And as you journey to your final rest, you know we did our best. -Jim Wills It is with great sadness that ARAR has to announce that Hope lost her life tonight. A week ago when we got the call about her my goal was to go and find her so she didnt have to die cold and alone in the rain overnight. We just didnt want her to die slowly on the streets of Detroit. After picking her up and rushing her to the hospital we decided she deserved a chance to live. After the emergency surgery we were optimistic that she would be able to survive and live a healthy life but she may be a tripod due to her injuries. After being at Wilsons for a week she was still filling up with fluid in the stomach and was unable to urinate on her own. We rushed her over to ORVS so she could see a specialist and have a ultrasound done. She was there over night getting some tests done. Several different specialists and doctors looked at Hopes issues. It was determined that Hope had gone into sever kidney failure in both of her kidneys. They also believe there was a major tear between her Bladder and Kidneys. None of the doctors believed this is something they could repair. The other major issue is that she had developed a severe infection in her stomach due to the fluid. With this diagnosis and the doctors recommendation it was decided that everything possible had been done to save Hope but it was time to let her run free to the Rainbow Bridge. Hope amazed us all. She was obviously not loved or spoiled in her lifetime. She held no grudges though and loved everyone she met this week. she was pregnant but still was all skin and bones. It didnt matter how beat up she was, she still found the strength to wag her tail and give us kisses. She touched so many hearts and so many people fell in love with her. I know if she could she would want to thank the staff at Wilsons Vet, the staff at OVRS, all of the people that came up to spend some time with her, and of course all of her supporters who gave her a chance to live. Without you she wouldnt have been able to feel the all the love she got this week. About 7 pm tonight she passed away in the arms of her rescuers. Our hearts are broken. She will never be forgotten!
