Hoppin John is a southern U.S. dish traditionally served on - TopicsExpress

Hoppin John is a southern U.S. dish traditionally served on January 1st to bring good luck in the New Year. Its characteristic ingredient, aside from black-eyed peas, is ham, but this dish proves, once again, that you can maintain culinary traditions as well as your good health, all in the same bite! If you make this, please leave a comment on the blog and let me know how you liked it. Whenever I make this in my classes, people go nutty for it. The Avocado-Cucumber Dressing really brings it all together. Its a great combo of flavors and textures. Happy Hoppin New Year! straightupfood/blog/2011/01/29/hoppin%e2%80%99-john-with-avocado-cucumber-dressing/
