Hot Stove Banquet Update The World Series has ended but Great Lakes Hardball is just warming up! The 2014 Hot Stove Banquet is about 60 days away and we are gearing up for the 2nd Hall of Fame Class! We wanted to update everyone on the status of the event and answer a few questions that we have received lately: 1. What is the Hot Stove? Originally the term Hot Stove was the halfway point between the end of the World Series and the start of Spring Training. It was the time where folks would gather around a hot stove to avoid the cold winter and talk baseball. 2. What does the money from the Banquet go towards? All profits we make off of our Hot Stove fundraiser goes toward the enhancement of baseball in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Last year we webcast the Little League County Tourney as well as the North Zone PONY Region Tournament. We will be donating upwards of $2,500 to local leagues, teams and organizations this winter. Coming in spring, we will print and prodcue High School Preview books, webcast High School Games of the Week, additional little league games and venture into tournament webcasts. We are also in the midst of launching our new internet video show, Bottom of the Ninth as well. The show will feature coaches, players and teams from the Great Lakes Bay Region. 3. Does Great Lakes Hardball have an indoor facility? No, there are plenty of solid indoor facilities offering quality instruction so there wasnt a need for us to enter that arena. GLH was created to assist all things baseball in our area. In the future, GLH may sponsor events but for now, we are only working on office space to display memorabilia and produce our video show. 4. Does Great Lakes Hardball have a website or just facebook page? We will launch the website on December 1st that will be more detailed than the Facebook site. We wanted to avoid the dive in mentality and decided to dip our toes in the water. We now are moving forward with our mission and vision and are excited to be a central point for baseball news and information highway for our region. If you have any further questions or are interested in tickets for the event, please contact greatlakeshardball@hotmail.
