Hot and Humid Action at MRP 7/19/13 With extra money on the line for Chevette and Compact drivers the racing order would be switched up and those divisions would run first for the night. In the Chevettes it was Spensor Watson winning heat race number one over Steven Pursley while Rusty Yarger would win the second heat race ahead of Miles Tarvin and setting the stage for 4 lap dash event. In the dash it was Tarvin taking the win and earning the pole for the feature event. In the feature it was Rusty Yarger taking the early lead and would continue to lead through lap 13 when Miles Tarvin would get passed to take the top spot and go on to take the win and the $500 in his Paul Brath Farms, Brown County Pork Producers, Lykins Oil, P&G Farms sponsored machine. Yarger would come home second with Pursley, Watson, and Josh Francis rounding out the top five spots. The Crazy Compact division was second in the running order for the evening as they too would be racing for additional money. In their heat races it was Willie Butler winning the first one over Michael Gemmer while Justin Dalton would win heat race #2 over TJ Dalton. In the Dash event there was some extra money as TheDRC.net and Lennox Racing chipped in some money so that the winner would get an extra $50. On the final lap it was Willie Butler taking the win away from Michael Gemmer on the last turn to earn that bonus money plus the pole position for the feature event. In the feature it looked to be more of the same as Gemmer would jump to the lead with Butler right on his bumper. They would stay that way until lap 7 when Butler had mechanical problems that would sideline him from the event. Things would not get any easier for Gemmer as Bubba Gibson would challenge for the top spot but to no avail as Michael Gemmer would claim his first win of the season and the first for the Dalton Motorsports gang at MRP in the TJ’s Mobile Computing, Dalton Property Maintenance, NKY Pop Warner Sponsored machine. Gibson would comer home second followed by Clyde Pack, Tim Martin, and Matt Murrell. Als thanks to Diamond Cut Lawn Care in Arnheim, Ohio for donating $50 cash to two separate random finishers in the feature event for compact. Ashley Landrum and Justin Dalton were the recipients of the extra bonus money. The late model division was full of high speed side by side action throughout their feature event. At the green flag it was Madison, Indiana’s Cody Mahoney jumping to the lead position but from second spot to eighth the drivers were battling side by side. Things would get interesting for the leader on lap 7 as Kellen Kenneda would have problems and spin directly in front of Mahoney to bring out the caution. Once green again Mahoney would again jump to a nice lead while Joe Godsey and Alan Magner would race door to door for second spot with Ethan Burgess and Mike Meyers would do the same right behind them in fourth spot. Things would get a little close again on lap 13 as Adam McCabe would spin directly in front of leader who had to take evasive action to avoid contact. Once under green Mahoney would again lump to lead but upon lapping Adam McCabe some contact would ensue and McCabe would flip end over end down the front stretch bringing the field to red flag condition on lap 20. McCabe would be alright but his car was too damaged to return. Mahoney would go on to claim his first win of the season at MRP in the Jim Beaman Lumber, Carbo Tech, Right Auto Parts sponsored machine. Ethan Burgess came home second after starting 8th while Alan Magner, Todd Brennan, and Godsey rounded out top five. Heat race wins went to Roger Ruark and Cody Mahoney. In the UMP Modifieds it was Davey Warnock of Flemingsburg, KY winning heat race #1 over Matt Hamilton while Joey Kramer of Hanover, Indiana would win heat race #2 over Trent Green. In the feature event it was Kramer jumping out to the lead over Warnock with Hamilton, Weasel Rhodes and Jimmy Lennox pressuring Warnock for second spot. Lap #10 would see Weasel Rhodes take over second with Hamilton in tow but by lap 16 Hamilton would pass Rhodes for second but would have nothing for Kramer on this night. Kramer would claim his second win of the season at MRP in his Lightning Chassis, Williams Precision Engines, River City Automotive sponsored machine. Hamilton would come home second with Weasel Rhodes, Jimmy Lennox Jr., and Davey Warnock rounding out the top five spots.
