Hotter, Drier By The Weekend PLAN ON RAIN: Showers are already falling across central and south Alabama this morning; its not raining on everyone, but many locations are picking up some light to moderate rain early today. As the day progresses, well see both wet and dry intervals. There will probably be a little sunshine in spots to go along with the rainy areas - a weather hodgepodge of sun, rain, clouds, heat and humidity. WET WEATHER LINGERS: A better than usual rain coverage will exist each afternoon through Thursday afternoon. Today is probably our best rain chance (60%), but the risk of rain on Wednesday and Thursday is appreciable (40%) as well. Standard summer forecast disclaimer applies - it wont rain all day, it wont rain on everyone, but where it does rain, it could include thunder, lightning, gusty wind and very heavy rain. DRYING OUT, HEATING UP: As an upper ridge builds over Alabama late this week, the temperature will go up and the rain coverage will go down. Friday and beyond will feature a 20-30% coverage of primarily afternoon thunderstorms; they will be very isolated in nature. With the reduction in rain and clouds, temperatures will nudge higher - into the low to mid 90s by the weekend. -Josh Johnson, Doppler 12 StormVision Meteorologist Facebook: Josh Johnson WSFA Twitter: @JoshWeather
