How Do You Smell? 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. How do you smell? Are you the sweet aroma that fills the room with godliness, or are you the bland odor of mediocrity, or worse yet, are you that foul stench of discontentment? Take a good whiff of yourself. Paul is telling the Corinthians to be thankful to God for their victories through Christ. We need to tell people of our victories in Christ and release that sweet aroma. It’s that fragrance of Christ that is released when we genuinely share how we were, what happened (grace), and how we are now. As we continue to share what God is doing in our lives we will share the knowledge of Him in every place we go. How we spread that knowledge determines our smell. The bland odor of mediocrity is released by Christians who go silently through the day minding their own business. They may have a bumper sticker or some other symbol to show who they are. They rarely speak up about moral issues because they do not want to offend anybody. They hardly ever share their faith and usually have few victories to share. They give God that one hour on Sundays and every once in a while send some money His way. The foul stench Christians are quick to thump you with their Bibles. They will tell you what you are doing wrong but seldom offer a solution. They are condemning and quick to judge. They rarely share the Gospel because they are too busy telling you that you are going to hell. They think they are better than most, especially other believers. Their lives reflect very little joy. Which one are you? How do you smell? From the book, “Are You d.u.I? by Jim and Robbie Mihalko
