How Fit Will You Be? First, let me start with a confession. I once, used to be a runner. Not really a good one, but I would grab chances to run I was capable of making. It wasnt a big problem for me to finish 5-10 km running and without feeling extreme fatigue. But, not until recently. My friends and I have a chat one day about how tough our lives as doctors could be. We keep sharing and giving opinion from what we know, hear from others, research through internet or just from our general assumption. And we all agree that becoming a doctor demands us to be fit. Simply, because we need to deal with various kind of patients for a very long hours in the hospital who come with different feelings we need to wisely comfort. Apart from that, I start to feel worry and pause for seconds to start figuring things out. Finally, it makes me thinking, Why shouldnt I start with jogging? I havent been doing this activity for quite some times and been feeling unsure how much time could I be on my feet running. I do start and actually have a very tough time just to complete some kilometers. My heart beats uncontrollably and my breaths dont seem to be breathed in and out comfortably. It feels completely different from what I used to. This comes to the point that I believe to realize what we need to change is a very crucial step to begin with. Indeed, we need to get acknowledged what is wrong and needed to be fixed. Then, why are we doing that? Or in this particular story, why do I need to jog and how comes will I be fit by doing it? I dont jog because I want to be an athlete. In fact, I realize how by jogging our blood vessel would vasodilate and improve the delivery of oxygen to our body. It makes me feel better. And make me less vulnerable to hypertension and stress which just fit in with what doctors need. Jogging is one of the times that I would be in stress-free mood. It makes me feel really really good. Dont believe it? You should try. I remember when I was keen in this activity back in my primary and secondary school years, I was really an unlikely person to succumb to any diseases. Once, twice or just thrice a year, would I catch a flu. When we jog, we sweat out toxins and prevent its accumulation whether through perspiration or sweating. Awesome right? Besides, you really have a big chance to socialize with people. Just to let you know, Ive met a runner who teaches me how to run well and control my breathing during my jogging today. Wicked, right? And finally, if you want to ensure you dont skip your jogging schedule, find a partner. It does really helpful. If you still figure out what activities you could do to prepare yourselves for being a fit doctor, I would strongly recommend you to start jogging. And once again, lets ask ourselves, How Fit Will We Be....... ............As A Doctor? #RevivingTheSpiritsOfGTB #LetUsJog #WeLoveJogging
