How SDA church manual opposes the Bible *.It stands against the gifts of the Holy Spirit *.It belittles the authority of the scriptures *.It introduces strange doctrines *.It becomes the test of fellowship to its adherents *.It offers punishments to those who oppose its heresy *.It prescribes the length of punishment which cannot be changed even though the offender has repented. This is what our pioneers feared: “The overt steps taken by the church were, First, the making of a creed. For this purpose Conventions were called, Synods and Councils convened, and the result was a great universal creed. The second step was to make that creed a rule of faith and test of fellowship. This was no sooner done than it was decided to try unruly members by the creed instead of the Bible. So for the third step, this creed became the tribunal by which men were judged. The fourth step was to brand all as heretics who did not subscribe to the creed. In the fifth step they obtained the aid of the civil law to enforce penalties on those whom they had branded as heretics” January 15, 1861 UrSe, ARSH 69 About the proclamation of the gospel “The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16) - Who is authorized to preach the gospel? (John 17;18; Isaiah 6:8; Romans 10:15) - Who is responsible of giving license to the evangelists? (Matthew 20:1-16; Isaiah 43:6-7) That why Jesus said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” (Matthew 28:19, 20) “The commission that Christ gave to His disciples just before His ascension is the great missionary charter of His kingdom. In giving it to the disciples, the Saviour made them His ambassadors and gave them their credentials. If, afterward, they should be challenged and asked by what authority they, unlearned fishermen, went forth as teachers and healers, they could reply: “He whom the Jews crucified, but who rose from the dead, appointed us to the ministry of His word, declaring, ‘All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.” (8T 14) “The Saviour’s commission to the disciples included all the believers. It includes all believers in Christ to the end of time. It is a fatal mistake to suppose that the work of saving souls depends alone on the ordained minister. All to whom the heavenly inspiration has come are put in trust with the gospel. All who receive the life of Christ are ordained to work for the salvation of their fellow men.” (DA 822) “Many suppose that the missionary spirit, the qualification for missionary work, is a special gift or endowment bestowed upon the ministers and a few members of the church and that all others are to be mere spectators. Never was there a greater mistake…. Everyone who has tasted of the powers of the world to come, whether he be young or old, learned or unlearned, will be stirred with the spirit which actuated Christ. The very first impulse of the renewed heart is to bring others also to the Saviour. (5T 385) SDA man-made church manual denies all these It insists that no one should be allowed to engage in gospel ministry except those who have missionary charters given by pastors. The work of the deacons According to the Bible, deacons are the servants of the church who deal with the management of the treasure of the church. It is their duty to help the needy, the orphans, the widow and the poor from the treasure of the church. “The appointment of the seven deacons to take the oversight of special lines of work, proved a great blessing to the church. These officers gave careful consideration to individual needs as well as to the general financial interests of the church, and by their prudent management and their godly example they were an important aid to their fellow officers in binding together the various interests of the church into a united whole.” (AA 89.) According to SDA church manual, a deacon in the church in merely a name, but has no authority to the management of the church treasure. The work of the deacons has been changed to the cleansing of the temple ground. About the baptism “Repentance, faith, and baptism are the requisite steps in conversion.” (Ev 306.) The meaning of this ordinance: “Christ has made baptism the sign of entrance to His spiritual kingdom. He has made this a positive condition with which all must comply who wish to be acknowledged as under the authority of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Before man can find a home in the church, before passing the threshold of God’s spiritual kingdom, he is to receive the impress of the divine name, “The Lord our righteousness.”Jeremiah 23:6.(Ev 307.)
